Do the best football players play in attacking positions?
Those regarded as the best players of all time tend to be attack-minded players, such as Pele and Maradona. If we look at the recent Ballon D’or awards they have also gone to players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. You could argue that this is because they are positions where they use more flair and score more goals, thus enjoying more glory and showing more entertainment.
However, no team is complete without a defence. In fact, some of the best teams are those with solid defences. Just look at the Arsenal team that used to feature, Dixon, Adams, Keown and Winterburn. Some fans might say that the defence was just as important as the attack in making that team a success.
Also, as a defender myself, I’m slightly biased.
What about goalkeepers they are as important?
A valid point. They can often change the fate of a game.
